Billy the Kid’s Mum was Married Here
I knew that would get someones attention.
This photo was part of a series of photos that the church hired me to take to document the external work that had been recently completed. I really like the drama of this photo, with the tree sweeping down and the dawn sky in the background. I think the photo gives the church a real presence and the power that a church of historical standing should have.
The church is the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe (http://www.fpcsantafe.org/tp40/default.asp?ID=142192). These are really good people. And Billy the Kid’s mother was indeed married in this church in the 19th century.
I love living in a town where I can walk down the street and touch history like that.

Huge fan of this one Katie! I love the story behind it. The angle of the shot nods to the story. I can just imagine those 2 bells ringing on her wedding day
