Winter is Leaving

We’ve had a bit of snow and cold and wind this past week, which isn’t unusual for Spring here in Santa Fe. As much as people like to think that we’re all sunshine and chile hot in New Mexico, it’s just not so. (:

I took this photo a while ago, and to me with the winter scene unfocused, it feels a bit like Winter is Leaving, which is a happy thought indeed. :)

Shot with my 35-70mm lens at f/2.8.

  1. Happy first day of Spring, Katie! [Vernal Equinox]. Nice way to bid winter farewell!

  2. Katie, I heard my local weatherman say that the only place in the country that had below-average temperatures this winter was New Mexico. It made me think of you and all of your snow shots this winter.

    I’m still jealous ;)

But now it’s Spring, so we move on. What will you capture next?

  3. Bid it (winter) a fond farewell!

  4. Yayy, it’s time for spring and sunshine :) Beautiful image :)

  5. It seems so odd that in New Mexico there’s snow while here in the Midwest we’ve had 85° weather. I think there’s some sort of topsy-turvy weirdness going on! Love the pattern and the hint of evergreens(?) in the background.

    • Nah, it’s not odd that NM has snow in this time of year. We can get snow off and on until like Mid May. People think New Mexico is hot all year long, which just isn’t the case. And yes, evergreens and snow in the background. :) Thanks for your comment, Dezra!

  6. Bye bye winter :)

  7. Katie, we are going to be warmer today than lots of days in summer. Very strange for Maine.

I guess at your elevation, you can get snow 3/4 of the year.

  8. Ooh, I love the tone of this. Great job!

  9. So strange that you had snow and cold. That’s usually what we have here in Ohio. But this past week we’ve had temps in the 70s. Which is highly unusual but par for the winter that we had. Have a great week.

  10. Burrrrr. Great shot!

  13. Yes, I sure had misconceptions about the weather in Santa Fe. Love the photo-can really relate to the ebb and flow of the last days of winter. Happy Spring! Jane

  16. Lovely image! It’s been unseasonably cold here in LA as well and we are all looking forward to the warmth of Spring.

  17. Love the treeline all out of focus, really nice! We had a slight dusting of snow here in the Pacific Northwest today! I am usually a winter person but am looking forward to some slightly warmer weather. :D
