Candied Apples

This photo is actually the one that I have as my blog header. I took this last Saturday at the Fiesta de Santa Fe. I had just finished taking all the normal event type shots, when I spotted these bright, gorgeous,  deep red candied apples. I went over and starting taking photos (with the booth people looking at me a bit strange), and this was one of the results.

Taking this photo actually served to give my brain notice that it was time to try some more artsy shots among all the normal event shots, so thank you candied apples. 🙂 Thanks also to the booth people, as they were the only candied apple seller who let their apples set out, which enabled me to take this shot.

On this photo, I love the way the foil that the apples were setting on looks like it’s a cloud, and the richness of the red color. I like the play of the roundness of the apples against the straight lines of the sticks. And finally, I like the blurred background, which is actually a woman who was working. Although she is totally out of focus, she gives the background a rich texture.
