Dancing Flowers – 3
This is another of the Dancing Flowers series of photos I did earlier in the year (see the first and the second posts). This is a more extreme take, as you don’t see a flower at all, but you see all the fantastic colors that were in the arrangement, and the colors were the thing I liked most, as the arrangement was fading.
I took this photo with my Nikon 105 mm f/2.8 macro lens. The aperture for the photo was f/22. I used this aperture, so I could use a longer shutter speed, and thus exaggerate the movement of the camera. The shutter speed was 1/30.
I really enjoy the deeper colors in this photo and the movement of those colors, and how they move up and a bit to the right. My eye is just a bit intrigued. I hope you find something in the photo that your eye likes also!

Your dancing flower is awesome. I am deepening in meditation and learning that the world actually kinda looks like this dancing flower. It pulses and dances–even though we tend to see them as solid. Thank you!

Very cool. How do you like the 105 macro. Good depth of field?? I read somewhere that it is pretty shallow. Can’t decide between the 40,60,85 or the 105.

I wish I could give you a comparison, but this is the only dedicated macro I’ve owned. I would say it does have shallow depth of field, but I don’t know how it compares to the other Nlkon macro lenses. It might be an idea to take your camera to a camera shop and test the different lenses? Sounds like I should also. 🙂 Thanks as always for commenting!

Hi, I really like your work. How does one get a watermark and copyright so the pictures or art can’t be stolen? Yotaki

Thanks for liking my work. For watermarking and the copyright, I have actions set up in Photoshop for them. I did a Google search on how to do it a while ago, and I bookmarked these. I’m not sure which I used though: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/copyright/page-3.php
and http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshop/ht/apswatermark.htm . I also have this bookmarked for Lightroom, but i don’t use Lightroom (thought about it at one time though): http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lrmogrify2.php Hope those are of some help!

Hi Katie, I’ve been taking similar flower and nature shots recently – it’s a great way to create abstract images full of light, movement and colour.

Thanks, Xandra! So glad you like this idea of this creative shooting. I don’t know how it came to me, but I do like the results of it. I need to go do some more before things die down outside (like this weekend 🙂 ). Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
