Lights Floating High in the Atmosphere

The photo for today is a fun one for me. Santa Fe, New Mexico has some really nice light fixtures, and I’ve somehow started a habit of trying to capture them in an interesting way.

I found myself realizing that fact about three weeks ago, when I saw these tall light fixtures that were reaching for the sky. Santa Fe has open and most often blue skies, where you can see all the way to Colorado on clear days. I decided I wanted to show these light fixtures as seeming to float in the sky above us with no attachment to the ground, and this is what I got.

Shot with my 105mm lens at f/2.8.

  12. A beautiful shot, Katie! I love non-traditional light fixtures in towns. They create a feeling for the town that makes it unique. 🙂

  13. Hi Katie – Love the light fixture and the way you have photographed it! You lucky thing – ‘open and most often blue skies’ – here in Scotland we have ‘closed, wet and most often grey skies’, and even more than London! Lucky us!

    Cheers

  17. Clouds are endlessly fascinating to me. That roundish blob one with the ‘rays’ is terrific.
