A Simple Pretty Flower for a Sunday – 13

Here’s the thirteenth installment of “A Simple Pretty Flower for a Sunday.” If you’d like, you can view all the earlier Sunday flower images/posts on this page.

This is one of the dahlias that I bought back in October and shot with my camera on a tripod, so that I could use smaller apertures (and get greater detail with my macro lens) and take longer exposures. I had this flower in a vase (well, actually a large plastic bottle) that faced into the sun.

As simple as that. 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Shot with my 105mm macro lens at f/14.

  7. Gorgeous Katie.. I’ve just bought my very first macro..a Nikon 40mm and am thrilled about it…now all I need is time ( oh and a tripod !! ) I posted my first few macro shots at the end of my latest Saturday post http://hellenjc.wordpress.com/2011/12/18/a-split-second-moral-dilemma/

  9. Great details. interesting how you need f/14 on a macro lens to get that depth of field. One day I’m going to pick one up…. One day 🙂

    • It is interesting about macro’s and the DOF/aperture. It’s because you can get so close to the object, which makes the DOF smaller. A challenge a bit, but still so much fun.:)
